Breaking Through for Future Generations

#UCLGMeets

Thank you for your participation!

The eighth edition of the Annual Retreat & Campus took place both physically in Barcelona and in a hybrid format from 21 to 25 February 2022.

With the UCLG World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders and World Congress in Daejeon on our horizon, the Retreat offered five days to renew our agenda and the priorities of our organization

The local and regional governments of our World Movement send a message of solidarity and support to the Ukrainian and Russian citizens, and we commit to guaranteeing the human rights of the displaced and refugee populations by relocating as many people as possible.

The closing day of the 2022 UCLG Retreat was marked by the start of the conflict in Ukraine. It gathered the UCLG Presidency and saw the adoption, by consensus, of a statement by the World Organization. The statement  condemned the military attacks and sent a message of solidarity and support to the Ukrainian and Russian citizens.

Building on the legacy of our movement, UCLG is committed to continue fostering dialogue among peoples & the spheres of government it represents. To strengthen the multilateral system, promote the respect for international law & open pathways of dialogue among all stakeholders.

The UCLG Municipal Peace Talks is an initiative that will set the ground for local to local dialogue beyond the current conflict & addressing also the urgent issues around the role of local governments in the context of humanitarian emergencies.
