UCLG participates in expert meeting on the International Guidelines on Urban and Territorial Planning in Fukuoka, Japan

On 11 to 12 November, a UCLG delegation participated in the final expert meeting to support the development of the International Guidelines on Urban and Territorial Planning (IG-UTP) in Fukuoka, Japan.

The UCLG delegation was composed of city representatives from Porto Alegre, Durban and Lleida. The planning guidelines are the third international guidelines and their development was supported by the Governments of France and Japan.

The planning guidelines are being prepared as an annex to a Resolution to be presented to the next Governing Council of UN-Habitat.

We will keep members informed and will share the final draft as soon as it is available, together with a briefing for the next Governing Council. In addition to the guidelines, there will also be a document containing case studies. UCLG has been asked to provide four cases on intermediary cities in Southern countries.
