UCLG-MEWA and Cités Unies France (CUF) will organize a side event meeting for Franco-Turkish decentralized cooperation on the UCLG-MEWA premises within the framework of the Vivapolis Symposium, to be held in Istanbul on 23-24 September 2014.
This symposium aims to present expertise in sustainable cities. The meeting is organized by UBIFRANCE, the French agency for international business development, in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, the Ministry of Economy, the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, the French Embassy in Turkey, the French Development Agency, Cités Unies France (CUF), UCLG-MEWA, the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) and the Union of Municipalities of Marmara (UMM).
This side event will take place during the morning of Wednesday 24 September. It will be an opportunity to discuss the renewal of Franco-Turkish cooperation through the sharing of experiences. It will also be an occasion to tackle important issues on the International Development Agenda, such as:
- Preparation of the COP21 Conference on Environment, to be held in Paris
- Challenges in financing urban development
- Preparation of the meeting of the UCLG Committee on Gender Equality, to be held in Istanbul in 2015
