Localizing SDGs

It is essential to define the rights of a global citizenship through local realities. That is why, when we talk about getting a seat at global decision-making tables, we are seeking a seat for our communities and for those closest to the people being affected by these decisions.

The 2019 High-Level Political Forum, convened under the auspices of ECOSOC, is the main platform for the review of the 2030 Agenda.

During this two day gathering delegates from local and regional governments, brought together by the GTF, shared their visions and experiences with members of national governments, civil society and international institutions.

The participation of representatives of associations of local and regional governments is especially important since the progress made in the localization of the SDGs will be presented to the United Nations during the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July 2019.

The event was a platform where to strengthen links with the Eurasian members and for local and regional leaders to exchange their experience and best practices on the SDGs implementation.

Heads and representatives of cities, associations of local governments and international experts from Armenia, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of South Africa, Tajikistan, Abkhazia, Algeria and Mongolia took part in the event.
