The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) has held its’ general assembly on 8th June 2013 in the city of Jericho, Palestine. The General Assembly was held under the patronage of His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, and with kind financial and technical support of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Palestine, and The Bank of Palestine.
Elections were held for the position of the president of APLA where the General Assembly voted for the presidency of APLA and Mr. Ghassan Shaka’a, Mayor of Nablus won by the great majority of the General Assembly members. Therefore, Mr. Shaka’a is the President of APLA.
The positions of APLA as per the elections are:
- Mr. Shaka, Mayor of Nablus as President of APLA.
- Mr. Mousa Hadid of Ramallah as Vice President.
- Ms. Vera Babon of Bethlehem as Secretary General.
- Mr. Iyad Jallad of Tulkarem as Treasurer.
