Disaster Risk Reduction, Local Governance, Urban Strategic Planning - 20/05/2014
Abuja (Nigeria) hosted on 13-16 May 2014 the 5th Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (AfRP5). UCLG participated in the meeting that brought together diverse stakeholders, from national and local governments, regional intergovernmental organizations, bilateral and multilateral donors. (+)

As part of the global debate on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the UN launched in April 2014 a new round of global consultations on the “means of implementation” Six themes have been proposed to the consultation: Localizing the post-2015 agenda; Participatory Monitoring for Accountability; Partnerships with Civil Society; Engaging with the Private Sector.

Climate change, Sustainable urbanization, Urban Agenda - 02/05/2014
The report, Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability, is the contribution of Working Group II to the Fifth Assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC). It highlights the role of local governments in “scaling up adaptation of communities, households, civil society and in managing risk information and financing”. (+)

The Secretary General of UCLG would like to congratulate the members of UCLG Presidency who have been re-elected for a new mandate in their cities. The municipal elections which were held in Turkey and in France on 30 March resulted in the victory of various members of the Presidency of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). (+)

100 years, International municipal movement - 14/04/2014
In May 2004, mayors and political leaders from all over the world came together in Paris for the Founding Congress of the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). Ten years later, UCLG continues to represent and defend all types of local and regional governments. (+)
